Dear Family and Friends,
Many of you already know my husband, Bruce Talley. Bruce is definitely a “people person” to say the least. He is a dedicated husband, a loving father, proud grandfather, and just one heck of man, who always thinks of others first and himself last.
He loves to work in his machine shop making custom parts for antique tractors on his lathe for his friends. He is also an avid history buff on the subject of antique rifles and shotguns, and has owned quite a collection in the past. He can often identify any firearm he sees and tell you who manufactured it and when it was made.
On December 27, 2013, Bruce was rushed to Anderson Medical Center (AnMed), in Anderson, SC with life threatening internal bleeding. The diagnosis was Non-Alcoholic Cirrhosis of the liver (NASH). He required surgery to stop the bleeding and was admitted to ICU for several days. Upon release he was then referred to MUSC (Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC) transplant center. Since this time Bruce and I have made several trips back to Charleston, and he has been recently become a candidate for a liver transplant. A liver transplant is now his only chance for survival.
The procedure is expensive but Bruce and the rest of our family are very hopeful this will not only save his life, but prolong it for many years to come. Bruce will be hospitalized for 1-2 weeks after the surgery. Once out of the hospital we will be required to relocate to Charleston for an additional 6 to 12 weeks for after care and precautionary reasons. He will also need several life-long anti-rejection medications after his life saving transplant.
In order to ease the financial burden for Bruce and myself, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for over 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible and are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. If you wish to help Bruce, then please consider making a contribution.
Your support is crucial! A fundraising committee has been formed and we are planning several exciting and fun events. Any ideas or help you can give are welcome.
Thank you so much for your prayers first, and any gifts you can contribute.
