Some of you know Dennis from his 18 years of employment at SCT, ACS and XEROX. Others of you know him because of his long time attendance at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Redlands, CA. Or maybe you’ve met Dennis throughout his 32 years of sobriety with AA. Dennis is an amazing husband, father and friend. And now he needs our help.
In 1999 Dennis was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. Doctors believe he contracted it in the late 70’s when he routinely donated blood and plasma to help pay for his college tuition. Unfortunately, as many of you know, during that time period blood screening and safety measures were not what they are today. Dennis now lives in Nashville, TN and has undergone numerous treatments at Vanderbilt Medical Center; all had proven to be unsuccessful and costly. Dennis’ only chance for survival and cure was a liver transplant, and he was placed on the active transplant waiting list. Dennis finally receive a new liver in late Oct 2014.
However due to the seriousness of Dennis’ medical condition his wife, Connie, and daughter BaLynda have become his primary caregivers. I live in California and provide support from afar. As the sole wage earner for a family of 4, it was devastating to receive the recent news that Dad is no longer able to work. Even with insurance, he will have many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits and the costly immunosuppressant medications that he will need to take for the rest of his life. Dennis and Connie are up against this financial challenge that they cannot meet alone.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a donation today and click the DONATE NOW button.
Thank you in advance for your support during this difficult time.

Dad is doing very well since his liver transplant in late Oct. He still undergoing doctor visits and labs multiple times a week. He has lots of meds and co payments. Any assistance to help with these is much appreciated. Thank you for your support!
So our prayers were answered on 10/26 when my parents got the call saying they had a potential liver match. By 10/27 he was in surgery getting his new liver. Dad is doing SOOOO much better now. Color is good. Feeling great! Labs are 3x a week to make sure he's not rejecting the new organ. So far so good. Keep praying for him.
With the new year brings a new deductible. I hope that in this time of giving you can find it in your heart to make a donation and help.
Thank you for all your support and prayers.
