My name is Robin Olatunji Aderele Mason and I am waiting for my 2nd life-saving kidney transplant. I was born with one kidney. In 1999, I was in end stage renal failure and my mother gave me “the gift of life” as she donated a kidney to me. On 2/14 the kidney failed and had to be removed. Currently, dialysis is keeping me alive while I wait for another life-saving transplant.
I am a graduate of Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC with an Associates Degree in Networking Technology. I am currently working on a certification program in Digital Forensics/Cyber security. Up until the end of 2013, I was working in the field of Homeland Security while remaining active in my church. I am a history buff and love travelling, music composition and rearrangement. Due to my deteriorating health, I am unable to work and no longer do many things I have always enjoyed. I am an optimist and do have a very supportive family and am a good friend to many.
This brings me to the purpose of this letter. Transplants are life-saving but financially draining. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be covered out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, and I will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications. This puts me up against a challenge I cannot meet alone and need your support.
A fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.
On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for your generosity, support and prayers.
