Bobby Buxbaum of Auburn Hills, Michigan RECEIVED his perfect set of double lungs March 6, 2010!!! Bobby was born with a disease called Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited genetic disease that causes glands to produce sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and intestines causing problems with breathing and digesting food. If you know Bobby you may be in shock that he is in need of something so serious because Bobby tries to live a normal life like everyone else. Growing up in Clawson and Ortonville, he was just like any other kid with maybe some excessive coughing, enzymes before meals and hospital visits every once in a while. Bobby loved all sports, playing football, street hockey and was very active in OSOMTECH, competing with other students’ inventions. Bobby is nothing other than the life of the party, the popular kid that everyone loves; he is always out to make people smile, laugh and feel better about themselves! Bobby is always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear; it’s never about him and his difficult situation but caring for other people in whatever way he can.
As Bobby has gotten older, his condition has worsened. In October 2008, his doctor finally convinced him to quit his full-time job and full-time college load because she told him he wouldn’t be here in a year if he kept living his life at that pace. Over the past 24 years Bobby’s lungs have become clogged so badly that he is now using only 15% of his lung capacity and is reliant on oxygen. A double lung transplant is vital for him. As you may know, transplantation is very expensive. Even with health insurance, there are significant uninsured costs. A fundraising campaign has been established with HelpHOPELive to help Bobby pay for uncovered expenses such as deductibles, co-payments, prescriptions, travel and living expenses. HelpHOPELive is a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for over 25 years. All contributions are administered by HelpHOPELive exclusively for uninsured transplant-related expenses. Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. To help Bobby with these expenses:

Love, Kathleen & Louie Prukner (and Elana too!)
I have had the pleasure of working with this young man for the past couple of years & have found him to be inspirational. He is always concerned with other people & rarely expresses concern (or bitterness) for his own circumstances. He truly is a young man of faith and we want him to be around for a long long time. Please help if you can.
