Donna has lived in Missouri all her life and enjoyed waitressing for a while before working as a checker at Safeway, United Supers and Price Choppers Grocery stores which she loved best. However, in 1995, just a year after Donna and I were married, she was in a bad car wreck that left her physically disabled and not able to return to work. Once diagnosed with NASH in 2011, the following few years were filled with doctor visits and various medications doctors hoped would control her disease. We will be forever grateful that Donna was ultimately listed and transplanted.
Because of her transplant, Donna will have to take anti-rejection medications for the rest of her life. That alone is astronomically expensive and, despite having Medicare, the donut hole we fall into yearly is in the thousands. We continue to travel to and from the hospital and to Donna’s doctors for follow up visits. Along with the mileage, co-pays are adding up.
To help with the financial burden of Donna’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising to patients for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, and held by HelpHOPELive in the Midwest/West Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant expenses only. Please consider a donation. Each and every contribution counts.

Donna’s greatest desire is to be a big part of our six grandchildren’s lives again and to be active in our church as she once was. Your help can make Donna’s prospects for the future much brighter. Thank you in advance for your prayers, support and generosity.
Sincerely,
Jim and Donna Drake
