I grew up in Northwest Houston. I worked for Gexa Energy for about ten years until October of 2013 when my illness forced me to go on disability. I am looking forward to a time when I am well again and able to return to all of my favorite activities. With your help, I will have that second chance at life. Up until a year ago my husband Leon Lastrapes was by my side as you all know God has called him home.
Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Even with insurance, I am facing very high expenses including relocation for me and a caregiver, travel to and from the hospital, copays, donor expenses and anti-rejection medication for the rest of my life.
To help with the financial burden of my uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Central Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity.
Gratefully,
Rosita Lastrapes
