In 2009, my mother, Feuy Saelee’s life was thrown into upheaval when she was unexpectedly diagnosed with kidney failure. Eventually, the seriousness of her illness caused her to be unable to work and provide for the family as much as she’d like to, or even do everyday things without feeling tiresome. For those who know her personally, she has always been a kind-hearted and hardworking mother and friend. Finally after five long years, she will soon be getting called in for a kidney transplant; however, her insurance does not entirely cover the expensive medication required after her surgery. This is why we need your help!
My mother was born in Laos and came to America with my father as refugees during the Vietnam War. Upon coming to America, she has always been a hard working mother for me and my three brothers. Practically raising us all on her own, she always made sure we were provided with food, clothes on our back, a roof over our heads, and access to a good education. She only wants to be able to be healthy again and continue to be there for us in the future. She is completely dependent on dialysis, which she undergoes 3 days a week for 2 hours. She has told me countless times that once she gets her kidney, she eagerly wants to get back to work and become healthy again.
Even with Medicare coverage, my mother is facing very high expenses for medications, up to $700 a month, a life-long financial burden that will lessen over time, until she can get back to work after her surgery and slowly become healthier after obtaining her kidney.
To help with the financial burden of my mother’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

Just an update! My mom has received her kidney transplant in November. She is recovering well but her bills are still adding up. Thank you to every one who donated and continue to support my mom. Much love!
