Sarah Watkins is up against a challenge she cannot face alone. Sarah needs the help of her family, friends and community in order to survive. She has been diagnosed with stage-4 sarcoidosis, a disease characterized by the growth of tiny collections of inflammatory cells in different parts of your body, lungs among the most common. Her doctors at The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio have evaluated her and determined she is a good candidate for a lung transplant.

Sarah is a loving mother of four who enjoys spending time with her grand kids. She is married to a loving husband and, when she was healthy, she loved to travel. However, two years ago she was diagnosed and her health has been declining ever since. A lung transplant is Sarah’s only chance for survival.

Transplants are life-saving but financially draining. Even with Medicare coverage, Sarah is facing many pre- and post-transplant related expenses that are not covered by insurance such as copays, follow up doctor visits and immunosuppressant medications she will need to take for the rest of her life. It has been estimated she will need to raise between $5000 and $10,000.
