As some of you may know, Bill has had Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) for many years and struggles each day for every breath. In November 2012, he was diagnosed with end-stage pulmonary fibrosis and told that his only chance at a healthy life would be to have a lung transplant. While he awaits the transplant in this compromised condition, he must be very careful not to catch a cold or the flu as these illnesses could quickly take his life.

Transplantation is life-saving, but very expensive. Even with good insurance, Bill will still have many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel and temporary relocation to be near the transplant center and the costly immunosuppressants he will need to take for the rest of his life.
