As you all know, hopefully, I received my new lungs on July 31st. Wow-it’s been quite a trip ever since. It’s amazing how much love I’ve have received from everyone. Living in Arizona has been exactly what I needed, but I sure do miss my friends back in Maine.
My transplant team is full of wonderful, kind, giving people who truly have my best interest at heart. I’m currently waiting for a procedure to help my paralyzed left vocal cord. After the procedure, I will be able to eat and drink normally — right now I have restrictions. I should also be able to breathe easier and finally be able to fully use these beautiful new lungs to the full extent.
I’m starting to exercise every day now, some days with a physical therapist. I’ve never felt so free — exercise is so amazing as I don’t have to worry about my breathing anymore. I just go. Unbelievable! It’s interesting that my biggest problem right now is the fact that my feet aren’t used to shoes, so they hurt. That’s ok though, I just need to be patient. Baby steps. I’ve been taking baby steps since I was mentally able to post- transplant and my faith has grown so much. I see the progress I continue to make and it’s crazy what such small things can lead to if done correctly every day.
I didn’t know that my move to Arizona would be such a life-changing experience. My life will never be the same. I cherish every moment and appreciate all the kind words, prayers, gifts and messages I have received. I am so driven and hope to inspire and make proud those of you who are on my side, and maybe change a mind or two along the way.
I’m open to this journey that is taking me where I need to be. I want to help other people recognize their greatness, to show others they too are worthy of healthy lives and of having their dreams come true. I’ve had a dream come true and continue to see all that I can be. I’m here on this earth with my parents, in this body for a reason and I believe that we all are. Society needs more love and kindness and I’m willing to show up and lead the way. Kindness, Courage, Forgiveness, Acceptance. We are all one. I have faith that everything happens for a reason. I’ve been told that I’m a miracle, I think I’m exactly who I’m supposed to be!
To help offset my uninsured transplant-related expenses, I continue to have a fundraising campaign in my honor with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southwest Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. If you would like to make a contribution please click the DONATE NOW button.
Many thanks for all your love and support. xoxo

Hello Everyone!! I just wanted to give a quick update and say I'm doing amazing!! I love my new life and living in LA!! Still struggling to pay my transplant bills so I had hoped some of you could help me. Any little thing will help. I really appreciate it!! Thank you!
Good Afternoon!! I hope you are all doing well! Today is another beautiful day to be alive! I had my vocal cord injection and a follow up appointment. My voice is getting better day by day. I'm supposed to have a barium swallow done to make sure I can eat and drink regular again. They have not set a date for that yet but it will be soon, my team is on top of things usually! I'm going to be coming back to Maine at the end of July and having a fundraiser to help me with medical bills. I would love donations to the silent auction, so if you're a business owner I would love to hear from you! If anyone has idea about where I can hold it I'd love that too! I may ask Bob Marley if he'll come too, we'll see!! I love you all and hope to hear from all of you! I'm on fb too so come find me!
I have bouts of congestive heart failure and have a feeling of what it must be like for you. I wish you the best of luck.
Dave
