On May 6, 2013, my loving husband, Neville “Junior” Cameron had an accident at work that changed our lives forever. Neville fell from a ladder. We were told that he would be lucky to get feeling back in his fingers and arms “so that he may at least feed himself”.
Anyone who has ever met Neville knows he follows the beat of his own drums. We have seen such inspiring determination and spirit from him. He has not let a collapsed lung, surgery, feeding tube, staph infection or being quadriplegic hold his spirits down. He has joked, cried and led his own treatment plan even when he was unable to physically speak. Neville is at the Shepherd Rehabilitation Center in Atlanta. He currently has no feeling in his fingers and from the hips down, but does have feeling and some movement in his shoulders and arms.
In the past five weeks since the accident, we have seen such progress. He is no longer breathing with the help of a machine, has transitioned to eating, no longer has pneumonia and is able to speak without resting when conversing with family and friends. The highlight of Neville’s day is when our children Calib (5) and Anissa (2) visit and make him laugh.
In spite of the many struggles that he faces, Neville remains hopeful that he will be able to return to a productive life in the community. We need to make modifications to our home and have a vehicle that can transport his motorized wheel chair. We also will be facing many other medically related expenses not covered by insurance. Some of these are intensive rehabilitation therapy, equipment and insurance premiums. I will not be able to return to work because I will be Neville’s full time caregiver. This puts us up against a challenge, in addition to the fact that he was self-employed, that we cannot meet alone and your help is desperately needed.
A fundraising campaign in Neville’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. In 2000, they expanded their mission to include those who have sustained catastrophic injuries. All contributions are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only. Please consider making a contribution.

My husband now has movement in his right thumb. We are so happy and pray that this is a sign of things to come.
WE HAVE BICEPTS!
Neville had surgery on Monday July 22, 2013 because the screws in the plate that was stablizing his spinal cord came loose!
The good news is that he is doing great. He is still struggling with being on bed rest and not being able to leave his room at Shepherd. Dispite all that we are celebrating. Neville has gained a little bicept control in his left arms!!!!!!
Help
Hello family and Friends,

Hello family and Friends,
I really, really, really need YOUR help. Neville is scheduled to return home September 5th (in less than three weeks) and I need to raise $37,000 by then for a used (motorized) wheelchair assessable vehicle. He still does not have use of his fingers and therefore needs a motorized wheelchair to get around. Unfortunately that means we need a modified vehicle for him to drive into, in order to transport him to rehab daily. He does not have workers comp, we do not qualify for SSDI or SSI so we are unable to afford payment on a vehicle. I have applied for a grant for $15,000, but we are not guaranteed the grant and it does not cover the entire cost of the used vehicle we hope to purchase. If you have a church or organization that would like to fundraise for us, with us, help us...we need all ideas and help we can get. Please call, text or email your ideas. Thank you.

Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. Neville is out of surgery and doing well. He is back in his room at Shepherd Center, we are not sure but fear that this new procedure will keep him at Shepherd longer.
We are working with helphopelive.org to help with our medical costs and to keep everyone updated. Please visit helphopelive.org and type in Neville Cameron. Please like our posts on facebook and share our story. Thank you.
First day of School for Calib
My amazing husband listened to us as we drove to Brookwood ES this morning because he really wanted to be there for his son's first day of school. I listened as he told him "it is ok to a little scared your first day. I was always scared on my first days of school."
I wished he was there too!
Hello Neville,
I was thinking of you today as I often do and wanted to send my best wishes your way.
I hope the New Year has started off well and you remain positive in life and spirit.
If I remember correctly, your son celebrates a birthday this month so this is something wonderful to celebrate!
Continued prayers for you...
