John D’Amico is a 53 year old cycling enthusiast who has turned his love of the sport into a business as the owner of Zoom Bike Fit Studios. He and his wife, Deby are active members of the Highlands Ranch, Colorado community. John has developed a strong biking environment and actively works with charitable organizations by offering his services and experience to help with numerous causes. He also is a vital part of the federal government contracting world as a security officer for Lockheed Martin in Littleton, Colorado.
Two years ago, John was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia and began his battle against cancer. After numerous courses of treatment, John’s doctors at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center have told them that his only option now is a life-saving bone marrow transplant. A donor match was identified; he has received the transplant and now must remain in the hospital and then nearby the hospital until his cancer markers decrease and the risk for infection moves to an acceptable level.
Even with insurance there are many expenses related to the transplant that must be covered out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles; travel to and from the transplant center and their relocation now while he is in treatment. His out of pocket estimated expenses will be about $10,000. This puts his family up against a challenge they cannot meet alone and need your help.
A fundraising campaign in John’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Midwest/West Bone Marrow Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making an end of year tax-deductible contribution today.
On behalf of John, Deby, myself and their family, thank you for your kindness, support and generosity.
