My mother, Mae Lewis is 51 years old, is the loving wife of Cecil Lewis and wonderful mother to seven children, good friend to many and is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. Sadly, Mom is in end stage liver failure and her doctors at Vanderbilt University Medical Center told us that her only option is a life-saving liver transplant.
For years, Mom worked in the hotel industry and then after adopting my four younger sisters, she chose to be a stay at home mother. She has always been there for everyone else and now she needs us to be there for her.
A transplant is major surgery and it is also very expensive. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be covered out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, travel to and from the transplant center and at the time of transplant Mom will have relocation expenses needing to stay nearby for a couple of months. In addition, she will be on a life-time of anti-rejection medications. This puts our family up against a challenge we cannot meet alone and desperately need your help.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. If you are able please consider making a contribution.
On behalf of Mom and all of our family, thank you for your kindness, generosity, support and prayers.
Gratefully,
Jessica Hobson
