Christina Hernandez is a Phoenix native who has struggled with health issues her entire life. At the age of 16, Christina was diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), causing permanent kidney failure.
Dialysis became Christina’s way of life for many years as she has battled through two kidney transplants, and now needs a third. Transplants are lifesaving, but very expensive procedures. Together with your help and support, we can ensure that Christina’s transplant is a success, as we stand by her side and help her fight for a happy and healthy life.
During her diagnosis, Christina was told she could never have children due to her condition. In November of 1990, Christina was blessed with a baby girl, Virginia. The blessing was mine and I owe her my life.
Despite her medical complications, my mom graduated from North High School and became a single parent who worked multiple jobs to provide a safe and loving home for me. Due to her health, my mom was forced to leave a 15-year position at the Department of Public Safety. She has never given up hope, never has faltered, and has never let her illness stop her from loving her family, friends and life. The road to her third transplant will not be easy, but together we are committed to making it a success.
My mom’s friends describe her as compassionate, kind, and thoughtful. She is the person who would give you her last dollar to see you smile, and expect nothing in return. Now it’s time to share those smiles and love with Christina. Please help offset medical costs for Christina that health insurance does not provide. Both pre and post-transplant surgery expenses are adding up. Any amount is greatly appreciative, and no amount is too big or too small!
To help with the financial burden of Christina’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution today.
Together as a family, friends and community we can make Christina’s dreams a reality. On behalf of my mother and our family, we thank you in advance for your kind consideration.
Gratefully,
Virginia Corona, Christina’s Daughter

Hi Christina! I don't know if you remember me, I worked with Regina at Kinko's and we all went to see George Lopez at the Improv together many years ago! I loved your infectious giggle and big smile, and I wish you all the best in your journey. Take care,
Debbie Weckter
You'll be in my prayers.
