Misty Jacobsen, a wonderful mother and friend, desperately needs our help! Misty suffers from a rare genetic condition, known as familial cardiomyopathy. In order to survive, Misty needs a heart transplant. She is one of five close family members to have this severe condition; and unfortunately the last survivor. At the age of 17, Misty’s youngest child received a heart transplant in 2009, but sadly passed away due to donor antibody rejection syndrome. Misty has also lost her father, her sister and her brother due to this horrific and deadly genetic condition of the heart. Misty is running out of time and needs your help to survive.
On a personal level, Misty grew up in California, and has lived in Nevada County for quite some time. She works hard at her job, and opened her own business in 2005 as an esthetician. Her focus has been on helping cancer patients with skin care products and providing wigs for hair loss. She presently cares for her older son, who unfortunately is also suffering from health issues.
Misty has faced the many obstacles and challenges in her life with courage and strength. She is expected to receive her transplant at Sutter Memorial Hospital, and is getting closer to her surgery each and every day. Together, Misty’s family and friends are committed to see her through her heart surgery.
Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. With her limited health insurance, Misty is facing very high unreimbursed transplant-related expenses. The daunting fees are much more than Misty and her family can handle alone. Travel and relocation fees, hospital and doctor visits, laboratory, fees, post-transplant care, and anti-rejection medications that Misty will need for the rest of her life, are expected to be well over $20,000. Misty needs our financial help!
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Misty’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity in making Misty’s transplant a success!
Gratefully,
Rich Lierly, Misty’s loving and caring friend

Hello everyone! I am excited to share with you all that on March 20,2015, I received the amazing gift of a new heart!
The road has been long, and I have had a few setbacks, but I hope to be on my way to recovery. Thank you to all those who have financially supported me. My needs for support continues as my frequent. Biopsies continue. I am still unable to work and expect to be in financial dire straights for the next year. I hope you will find it in your own hearts to continue to support my campaign any way you can.
God Bless,
With much gratitude,
Misty Jacobsen
GREAT NEWS!!!! On March 19,2015 we got the call Misty had been waiting for ........There was a new heart for her!! On March 20, 2015 the successful heart transplant operation was preformed. Since that date to today (March 31st) Misty has been in ICU. Her body is accepting the new heart but there are many other complications. Most complications are related to the fact that Misty had a weak heart all of her life and as a result over the years her body made adjustments to compensate for it. Now that she has a healthy heart the adjustments that her body made need to be reversed. Until that happens she continues to suffer with very high blood pressure, a low heart beat and very severer headaches! Please continue to keep Misty in your prayers and consider helping with her medical expenses. Her road will be a long and winding up hill climb for some time to come ..........BUT now (thanks be to GOD, the donor and the medical teams) at least she is on the road to recovery! Thank you and GOD bless!!
Hi all! 2014 was a challenging year. At the start of last year, I was sure I would be entering into 2015 with a new heart. Instead, it has come with new challenges to my health, my ability to work, and the loss of a major part of my income. My dear mother is supporting my living expenses. I'm so grateful to still have my mother. She has been through more then any mother should ever have to go through. I see the fear in her eyes everyday that she is going to lose another one of her children. We can all learn a thing or two about strength and courage from my mom. Remember to keep her in your prayers
I am slowing down rapidly. Chronic fatigue is preventing me from enjoying and participating in so many things I enjoy about life. Despite my new limitations, I cantinue to be be very thankful for each new sunrise.
I would like to wish everyone a very happy new year filled with peace, love, success and most importantly graditude!
Thank you to all who have supported me in my campaign.
With heartfelt graditude,
Misty and family
Misty and I want to thank everyone so much who has contributed to help pay her uncovered medical related expenses! Misty is a very dignified (maybe even proud) women and everytime she sees that someone has contributed she is very thankful but at the same time very embrassed. She has always seen herself as a "giver" helping those that are less fortunate then her and never dreamed she would be in a positon were she would be forced to ask for help. So she is very grateful, but also very embarrassed (ashamed) by this entire process. But from the bottom of our hearts we thank you!! And pray that GOD blesses you and yours! Misty is very hopeful that she will one day be in a position to "pay forward" your gift! FYI we (and only we) can see the names of people that give, BUT can not see the amount of the gift and if you give anonymously (which a few have) we have no idea who to thank so we just Thank GOD! ....Jesus himself said "when you give don't let your right hand know what your left hand is giving, and by doing so you will be richly rewarded by our Heavenly Father" so we honor that! humbly Rich
Misty continues to be upbeat and positive as she also continues to struggle with pain and going to numerous Dr. Appointments. Please remember her in your prayers and that a heart becomes available for her. GOD Bless .....Rich
Dear Misty; you are an amazing woman. I pray that you will come thru this time well and strong! God is there and will never leave you. He has promised His provision, and His Peace. Tho your physical heart needs replacement, your true Heart of Love is strong. May God bless and keep you!
