My name is Diane Carrington and I am your neighbor in Kodiak. I have lived here for almost 5 years and prior to that I lived in Anchorage and Unalaska for a short while. I am employed with the Transportation Security Administration as a Security Officer in the Kodiak Airport.
What you may not know is that in 2009, I was diagnosed with end stage renal failure. I have been on home peritoneal dialysis. My doctors at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, WA have placed me on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. This puts me up against a challenge that I can not meet alone and desperately need your help.
There are many expenses that are not covered by insurance and must be paid for out of pocket. Some of these are deductibles, co-pays, housing, food, home care and local transportation while I am in Seattle and possibly in Anchorage after my transplant. In addition, I will be on a life time of anti-rejection medications.
To help with this overwhelming burden a fundraising campaign, in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (HelpHOPELive). HelpHOPELive is a nonprofit organization that has provided fundraising assistance to the transplant community for more than 28 years.
