On a personal level, Janice has a large family and loves to spend time with her grandchildren. Despite her illness, she works hard at her job in a Nursing Home and goes to work each and every day. She loves to garden, spend time with her pets, and she remains optimistic despite her kidneys not functioning properly. Janice has spent her whole life taking care of others – now it is time to help Janice!
Transplants are lifesaving, but the costs are more than Janice can handle alone. She is facing many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel and temporary relocation expenses and costly anti-rejection medications that Janice will need for the rest of her life. Janice will be required to temporary relocate after her transplant, and live closer to Barnes Jewish Hospital. These costs are adding up to thousands of dollars for Janice, and she needs your help.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Janice’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the North-Central Kidney Transplant Fund and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your prayers, generosity and kindness in making Janice’s kidney transplant a success. Any donation, large or small, will make a big difference for Janice.
Gratefully,
Michelle Johnson, Janice’s loving daughter

Janice is now a year and a half post transplant and just celebrated her 2nd christmas with her family! She is doing great, back at work and a whole new person! We are forever grateful to the family who thought of Janice during their own tragic time and they are in our thoughts and prayers always. Janice continues to see the doctors and run tests to make sure she stays on top of everything but so far, so good. Thank you to all for their support and understanding during this very busy time of our life and for the ability to give Janice a second chance. A lot has happened over the last year and a half and Janice couldn't be more grateful for her support team and those who love her. She is blessed to be able to see her daughter get married, her grandchildren grow, visit with friends and family, and was even able to make a long trip to say goodbye to a loved one all thanks to the wonderful people who have helped along the way and the one special angel whos life lives on in her!
Janice has received a new kidney! Everything is looking good so far, numbers are where they should be and she is recovering well. Due to this she will now have to make frequent trips back to the hospital for clinic dates for awhile and then once a year after that, but it is a small price to pay for what she has been given. Thanks to all those that have helped along the way and continue to help now and in the future!
A special thank you to Wendy Hamm for the wonderful pictures that she took of Janice and family free of charge! What amazing people there are supporting her in this time! THank you for all you special people do!
Janice has been accepted to the transplant list in the last few months due to all her hard work and dedication to making sure she is sticking to her regimen. Way to go!! We remain as ever hopeful and continue to ask for thoughts and prayers for Janice during this very difficult time in her life, especially since nothing slows her down! Way to stay active, we are all behind you!
Numbers continue to change month to month but Janice is adjusting her diet accordingly and still waiting on the transplant list. Levels are the best they can be right now but Janice is still doing good and yet remains optimistic along with all of her family and friends. Thanks for all your support!
Dialysis is going as well as can be expected and numbers are where they should be. Janice is sticking to her diet and following the doctors orders, she is a real trooper! Good job mom, I'm so proud of you!
A huge thank you to Richard Barth for your contribution. There are not enough words to thank you for your kindness!
