I continued my rehabilitation after leaving the hospital and have made significant progress throughout my life since. After what seems like a very long 4.5 years I have become much more independent thanks to a lot of hard work, and assistance from friends, family and even people I have yet to meet.
Although I have been very fortunate with the help I have received over the years, the time has come where I am in need of new equipment. Unfortunately insurance only covers a very minimal percentage, and I am left trying to cover the difference.
As most may not know, anything wheelchair related is considered “medical equipment” and sold at an absurd price. Because bicycle tires are not compatible, a simple set of tires can run near $200. Which is why any and all support is greatly appreciated.
To help with the financial burden of my uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southwest Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for illness-related expenses only. Please consider making a contribution.
Thank you for your love and support throughout this crazy journey.
With much gratitude,
Nicolas Harris
