My mother, Marla Wadsworth is 59 years old and suffering from interstitial lung disease. She is on oxygen 24 hours a day and her doctors at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania have told her that she is now in need of a life-saving lung transplant.
Mom is a loving mother, grandmother and good friend to many. Due to her poor health she is no longer able to work at her job which she loved; working on an inpatient psychiatric unit. She also is unable to go biking, walking, exercise and do many of the things she has always enjoyed and most of all misses her long walks with her Great Dane Ebony.
Mom’s only hope for a normal life is a life-saving lung transplant. After many years of helping others she needs our help. While her insurance covers some things there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these expenses are co-pays, deductibles, travel to and from the transplant center, relocation at the time of transplant and she will be on a life-time of anti-rejection medications. This puts our family up against a challenge we cannot meet alone and need your help.
A fundraising campaign in Mom’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Mid-Atlantic Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.

Hey ya'll on August 2nd 2015 my mother received a single left lung transplant at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Since then her recovery has been amazing. She was discharged from the hospital on August 10, since then has been doing pulmonary rehab 3 times a week. This Thursday is her last therapy appointment but we are far from over with traveling to Philadelphia for follow ups. There are many more appointments coming up in the future and tests. But she has done absolutly amazing and continues to do amazing!
Lots of love and prayers to all of you. Good luck!
