Clifford “CJ” Jones is a 56-year-old in need of a heart transplant. Diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure when he was 32-years-old, medication helped Clifford’s condition for a long time. Then in 2013 he suffered a heart attack while at work. While hospitalized Clifford received a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) and new medication, and responded well to treatment. Unfortunately, the medication is no longer working and a heart transplant is his only option. Clifford is currently on the active transplant waiting list at University of Michigan.
Clifford grew up in Detroit and attended CASS Tech and Motech and has been working in the veterinary field since 1986.
Heart transplantation is life-saving, but very expensive. Even with insurance, Clifford will have many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, insurance, lengthy post-transplant aftercare, and the very expensive anti-rejection medications that he will have to take for the rest of his life.
To help with the financial burden of Clifford’s “CJ’s” uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Great Lakes Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a making a contribution; every donation will be much appreciated and will give Clifford hope for his future.
