Terri is a 51-year old woman who is very ill. After years of struggling with end-stage renal failure, a kidney transplant is her only hope for survival. Terri is now completely dependent on peritoneal dialysis, which she undergoes at home every night for 12-15 hours. Terri is one of the kindest people you’d ever hope to meet and she needs our help. The cost of a transplant can be overwhelming.
Terri grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, and has worked her entire life. However, by 2013, Terri’s health had progressively gotten so much worse that she was left with only one option- to resign from her job at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Terri has 2 children and 2 grandchildren who she loves very dearly. It is Terri’s wish to receive the gift of life – a kidney transplant- to be able to travel a distance the spend time with her grandsons who live in another state.
After many years of helping others, Terri is now the one who needs our help. Transplants are lifesaving but financially draining. Even with Medicare coverage, there are co-pays and deductibles that will have to be paid out-of-pocket, lab fees, follow-up doctor visits and mileage as Terri needs to travel approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to the University of Virginia where she is listed and hopefully transplanted soon. The post-transplant anti-rejection medications alone can cost up to $1,200 a month. This is a challenge Terri cannot face alone.
To help with the financial burden of Terri’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please, consider a contribution.

Keep an eye on Terri’s website because we will be planning some fundraising events soon. Thank you for your support and prayers. They are greatly appreciated.
With sincere gratitude,
