Our friend, Dave Soares, a 38-year-old rock and roll enthusiast who is battling kidney failure. His life was surprisingly turned upside down in August 2014 when he was admitted twice to the hospital and suddenly diagnosed with Stage 5 Kidney Failure. August 2014, Dave started dialysis three times a week and is in need of a kidney transplant. Transplants are life-saving but very expensive.
Dave is one of the kindest, funniest people youād ever hope to meet. He often keeps friends and family laughing while rocking out to some good music. He and his wife of eight years, Serena, along with his step-son, Robbie Araujo, opened their home and hearts to their adopted greyhounds, Ashley and Deuce. Dave has a big heart and is always willing to help people. He now needs our help.
Dave has successfully completed his transplant evaluations Massachusetts General and is now on the transplant waiting list. He is blood type A-. Dave can accept type A- or O. If you would like to learn more about becoming a living donor to Dave, please contact the Mass General transplant department at 617-643-7193. Dave is no longer able to work full time due to his condition and his medical costs are on the rise. Dave remains hopeful that he will receive a transplant and be able to return to work full time. But for now, he and his family are very overwhelmed by medical expenses.
Transplants are life-saving but come at a monumental cost. Even with insurance, Dave will have many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel to and from Boston and the costly anti-rejection medications that he will need to take for the rest of his life.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Daveās honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Northeast Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a donation now and click the DONATE NOW button.
If we all work together we can make Daveās future much brighter. Keep an eye on this campaign page as we will be planning some fundraising events soon and posting updates regularly. Here is the link to a Facebook page we made for him. www.facebook.com

Congratulations Dave on your 2 years with your kidney transplant!! April 29, 2020 was a great day! Feeling and looking great!
April 29, 2018 Dave received the gift of life! Today in January 2019 hes doing great and grateful for each and every day!
We are hoping that 2018 is the year to get Dave off the machine. He goes to dialysis three times a week for about 4 hours, then comes home to rest. He started dialysis in 2014 and through all this, still remains with a happy positive attitude. Right now, there are no complications but that is what we are concerned about.
To help spread the word about him, our family and friends have stickers on their cars and we are having a Quarter Auction FUNdraiser March 11 at The Liberal Club. See the information link on this page and or contact me anytime. Serena
The Facebook event for the Autumn craft fair is www.liberalclubcraftfair.cf
November 12th at the Liberal Club Autumn Craft Fair in Fall River, MA, Dave will be the recipient for the proceeds from the Raffle. Each vendor will donate an item to the raffle.
Come on out, I worked with Rose Camara on the fair which is a benefit for the Liberal Club and we have over 80 vendors!
The Wrestling Fundraiser on 9/30/17 was so much fun. I want to thank our best friend Lisa Verrette for getting a jumpstart on the raffle in the Spring because it was really awesome! Thank you everyone that came out and see Robbie wrestle in our hometown community in Bristol.
The appointment at Rhode Island went well. We have the 2nd appointment on October 10th. We also confirmed that you can be registered at two hospital's kidney donor departments in the same region! Being registered at Rhode Island Hospital will be very convenient for anyone interested in learning more about kidney donating to Dave.
Tomorrow we are so excited because Dave and I have an appointment at Rhode Island Hospital so they will be able to take inquiries from possible donors. Testing can be done in Rhode Island as well <3
Currently working on the Wrestling fundraiser that is on September 30th. Obtaining gift certificates and baskets. Lisa has been doing a great job contacting companies that you can only apply online.
Dave is also being featured at the Liberal Club Autumn Craft Fair. There is a raffle and he is the benefit for it. Both Events there will a Donor information table with a volunteer from Donate Life <3

Lisa, her mom and me had gone to one in January and it was a great time with a lot of laughs and I decided to have one. Dave even got in on the fun and sat with some people and played!
Thanks to everyone the funds in his account has help pay off Dave's medical expenses to date. In 2017 we are hoping to find my young husband a person that will be interested in donating a kidney directly to him. Here is the Facebook page event for the first FUNdraiser this year and it is a good one! Please join and please share www.facebook.com

This is a FUN event that will keep you laughing for a good cause!
2017 is going to be Dave's year I can feel it There is going to be a lot of love all around him
I am planning several FUNdraisers this year for him. I'm hoping for one on April 2nd, one is definite for June 17th just waiting to confirm the location. Then maybe 1 in the summer and then another maybe in October. These will help put funds into his account to have for his kidney donor operation
Funds raised to date have helped pay off his medical expenses and we are so lucky to have support of our family and friends to help relieve this stress
Thank you !
wifey, Serena
We are so happy for all of the help and love that has been shared with us. Dave is feeling pretty good after his scare in January, his doctor wants him to stay active so we are starting to bike ride. Seems like a new found hobby for us!
This summer, I have been putting stickers on cars that show the person is looking for a kidney donor for Dave Soares with my phone number. The more the merrier, so if you would like one, let me know.
Looking to start picking and planning the next FUNdraiser for the fall, its going to a fun one!

Dave went to visit the surgeon yesterday, the dialysis center thought he had a blood clot again in his shoulder. Thank goodness it wasn't one. He had one last month he had one removed out his shoulder which was very painful. It was caused from the dialysis in his arm. We love you honey, I am so sorry that you have to do this. We are hoping to find a donor to help stop things like this. With a person donating directly to him, it will increase the chances of it lasting for year and years. This benefit will be so helpful because it will help him with the medical expenses and medicine copays that he will incur for the rest of his life. THANK YOU all for helping us with the FUNraisers !
Dave is so happy since we launched the account with HelpHOPELive, facebook page and set up the date for his first FUNdraiser!
He hopes to be able to raise awareness to what has happened and hopefully someone will be able to donate a kidney soon, he's been on dialysis since August and even through the different struggles he has had with it, he tries so hard to be positive!
