Dear Friends, Family and Community,
My uncle, Dana Nutter, is a 44-year-old man who’s very ill and in need of a life-saving double lung transplant. He was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease three years ago. His condition is worsening and needs the help of his community to make the transplant happen. Transplants are life saving but very expensive.
Dana grew up in Crestview, Florida and worked for the Okaloosa County school board for 10 years. He is one of the kindest people you’ll ever hope to meet with a heart of gold. Dana has completely transformed his lifestyle by losing over 100 pounds over the past year to reduce his BMI to meet the guidelines for transplant surgery which demonstrates his motivation to get new lungs.
Dana and our family are committed to seeing him through this transplant but are in need of assistance with the financial burden associated with this life-saving surgery. Even with insurance, Dana is facing very high expenses including relocation for at least 4 months for himself and his caregiver to be near UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville, his post-transplant medications, co-pays, lab fees, and more.
To help with the financial burden of Dana’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Thank you for your prayers, support, and generosity. Keep an eye on Dana’s campaign page because we will be planning some fundraising events soon and posting updates regularly.
