My name is Thad Collom and I am currently on the waiting list for a kidney transplant at University of Utah Medical Center. At 53 years of age, I am a cancer survivor now suffering from kidney failure. Currently I am on dialysis but my kidneys are rapidly and steadily worsening, functioning at only five percent. I need your help.
I am the fifth of ten children born to Thad and Nettie Collom. I grew up in Bakersfield, California, but now make my home in Fruitland, Idaho. As a young man, I seemed determined to learn my lessons the hard way, but in the end, I was able to overcome some difficult life experiences and through a renewed faith in God, I was given another chance. My daughter, Savannah and her husband James have three children, Jimmy, Joshua, and Josiah. I look forward to a time when I am healthy and can spend time with them and watch them grow up.
Even with insurance, I will have many uninsured, transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, travel to and from the center and relocation closer to the hospital at the time of transplant. I will need to take immunosuppressant medications for the rest of my life. The cost is exorbitant. I need your help.
To help with these uninsured, transplant-related expenses, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Northwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

Your support is critical to the overall success of my struggle. Please know that your contribution counts. Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity.
With sincere gratitude,
Thad Collom

Wonderful news! I received a kidney on January 3rd, 2017. I am now recovering at the University of Utah Patient and Family Housing in Salt Lake City, Utah. I want to give my most heartfelt thank you to those who have supported me with prayer, encouraging words and donations. Without all of you I would not have been able to endure the long days of worrying and the five years of dialysis treatments. I especially would like to send my love to my sister Amelia Gomez for coming forward and offering me a kidney. God bless you all..!
Thad, You are an inspiration. I am excited to see what the future has for you. I thank God for bringing you into my life!
