Our father, Rudy Garza, Sr. has been diagnosed with cancer of the liver and is on the waiting list to receive a life-saving liver transplant. Dad is only 50 years old, a loving husband, father, father in law, grandfather, uncle and good friend to many. He works hard as a mechanic, believes in helping people and often works on people’s vehicles for little or no money even stopping to help stranded motorist on the side of the road. This is just who he is. He does it out of kindness.
Now Dad needs all of our help. A transplant is life-saving but also very expensive and financially draining. Even with insurance there are many expenses that are not covered and must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, emergency room visits, travel back and forth to the transplant center and Dad will be on a lifetime of anti-rejection medications. Our Dad does everything he can for us and now it is our turn to try and do everything we can for him. If love covered the bills, we would be set. Unfortunately, it does not. We respectfully and humbly ask you for your assistance in raising funds to cover his medical expenses.
To help with the financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Dad’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Central Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution. Click the Donate Now button on this page to make a donation to the campaign.
On behalf of Dad, our mother, Veronica and our family, we thank you for your prayers, support, kindness and generosity. Keep an eye on his website because we will be planning some fundraising events soon. If you would like to help or have any question, please feel free to contact us any of us.
