Jimmie Gay has lived in Lee County since 1982. She dedicated many years to her profession as a Fire Protection Specialist until she was forced to quit due to her declining health. She has also had to give up some of her passions such as woodworking, gardening and even her two cats which she adored. She loves her family very much and spends as much time as she is able with us and her 9 nieces and nephews, and of course her little dog Freddie Mac. Although her activities are very limited now, Jimmie Gay is optimistic about her future looking forward to returning to work and becoming an active member of the community again.
Jimmie Gay has the support of all of us whom live locally and help with day to day living needs, transportation to Gainesville and local medical appointments, grocery shopping, etc. However, even with insurance, there are many expenses that are not covered and must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, transportation and relocation for at least 3 months following the transplant. In addition, she will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications. This is where your help is needed.
A fundraising campaign in Jimmie Gay’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.
On behalf of Jimmie Gay and our families, thank you for your kindness, generosity, support and prayers.

The Best News Ever- Jimmie Gay received her transplant and is doing so well!!!!
I would really like to express my gratitude to all who are working so hard to help me achieve my goal of getting on the lung transplant list. Especially my two sisters Shelly and Holly and their families who have pretty much gone non-stop since this whole thing began over a year and a half ago. I loved them before I got sick. But, now I think I love them even more. However their hard work would be in vain were it not for the generosity and support, both financial and physical, of so many beautiful people out there. You all have a place in my heart.
Sincerely JGH
Yard Sale
July 9th - 11th
I would really like to be able to thank everyone, who has found it in their hearts, to contribute in any way, whether it be funding, product, prayers or time, however I am unable to do so at this time. But I do want everyone to know that on behalf of my family and myself we are sincerely grateful to you all. So from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!
