Harry Baptiste is up against a challenge he cannot face alone. Harry is forty eight, very ill, and in need of a lung transplant. After ten years of suffering with pulmonary fibrosis and rheumatoid arthritis, Harry’s only hope for survival is a lung transplant.
Harry grew up in Connecticut and has three kids; one child is disabled, the other two kids have been trying to help. Trained as a veterinary assistant, Harry would very much like to get back to work, and this can only happen with a transplant.
Transplantation is lifesaving, but financially draining. Even with insurance, there are many uninsured transplant related expenses including travel to and from the transplant center, co-pays and deductibles, and the costly immunosuppressant medications that he will have to take for the rest of his life. Also, Harry and a caregiver will have to relocate for at least six months to be closer to Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. These out-of-pocket expenses could be $20,000 or more.
To help with the financial burden of Harry’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a contribution to support Harry.
Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity. Please know that your contribution counts. Thank you in advance for your kind consideration.
Sincerely, respectfully, and with gratitude,
Harry Baptist and family,
