Raymond Collier is 56 years old. His life changed drastically when he was diagnosed with COPD in 2006. Without a lung transplant, Raymond has been told by his doctors that he may only have three more years to live. This transplant will not be possible without your help.
Raymond grew up in Anderson, SC. We have been married for 37 years. We have two daughters and four grandchildren. After working 34 years at Michelin Tire, Raymond has become physically unable to work due to his need for continuous oxygen. Raymond’s only chance at watching our grandchildren grow up is by having this transplant and the only way we can do this is with your help.
Transplants are life-saving but financially draining. Raymond and I will incur major out of pocket expense to relocate temporarily to Durham, NC for six to twelve months to be close to Duke Medical Center; this is a requirement for transplant. Even though Raymond has medical insurance, some medications aren’t covered and can cost several thousand dollars each month. He will have to take these anti-rejection medications for the rest of his life. The transplant team has told us that we need to raise $10,000 in the next three months in order for Raymond to be placed on the active transplant list.
To help with the financial burden of Raymond’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a contribution.
Thank you all for your prayers, support and generosity. Keep an eye on the website because we will be planning some fundraising events soon.
Words cannot express our gratitude. Matthew 25:40

July 29, 2015 Raymond was put on the active call list today. We are beyond thrilled & nervous. Just knowing that you could get the call at any time is overwhelming. Raymond tested positive for the CMV Virus so he will have to take the most expensive medicine for a full year. Most people only take it for less than 6 months. We will need to do a lot more fundraising. Thank you all for your prayers & donations! God Is Great!!
So thankful the liver specialist said there is nothing to worry about with Raymond’s liver. He is a carrier for Hemocromatocis. June 6, 2015, we were told to relocate to Durham, NC. We are all settled in our little apartment. Every day brings us closer to getting new lungs for Raymond. He is still doing rehab & we are going to a lot of classes to learn all we can to prepare us. Thank you all for your continued prayers & support. Kathy Collier
We are sort of on hold at this point. Raymond has lost all 40lbs. and continues to exercise to keep his strength up. An ultrasound of his liver showed it slightly enlarged. After having a liver biopsy they have found iron in his liver. We will now have to meet with a liver specialist. I truly don’t think God would have gotten us this far to stop now. Thank you all so much for the prayers.
The doctors at Duke told Raymond they needed him to lose 40 pounds when he saw them in January. They were shocked to see that he had lost all 40lbs. by April 20th. He was well above everything they needed him to do in the pulmonary rehab assessment. I am beyond proud of him. If all goes well with his blood work, we should be relocating to Durham around May 9th. We can not thank everyone enough for all their help with the fundraising. The Golf Tournament went great! A special thanks to Terese & Jared Lee, Kevin Broome, April & Chad Davis, and Pompous Pig Barbeque for doing so much to help us raise the money!
The Brunswick Stew sale was a great success! So many wonderful people helped make & sale it. We sold 109 quarts & could have sold at least 50 more. Thank you so much to everyone who helped. A SPECIAL THANKS TO ELVYN BRYANT for making the stew!!
Raymond is really taking the weight off! He is going to pulmonary rehab 3 days a week & he is also working out at home every day. He is very determined to lose enough to get new lungs. I am very proud of him. So far, he has lost about 18lbs. Keep the prayers & donations coming. God Bless You All!!
i am losing weight a lot faster than I ever thought possible. I have been working really hard each day to get to the goal my doctors set for me. So many wonderful people have started donating money to help me reach that goal also. My new lungs are getting closer each day!!
have you tried Donate Life for help?

Raymond, I'm honored that I had you as a trainer here at Michelin, but more honored to have you as a friend.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I wish that I knew all the right words to say to calm your fears. I do not, but I pray that The Lord will strengthen your faith and heal Raymond so that he can serve Him and enjoy many years with his family. Let me know if you need me for anything. That's what family is all about!!! Love you all, Teresa
