Sissy needs our help!

Joan “Sissy” Salopek recently received a kidney transplant after nearly ten years on the waiting list. During this time, she has remained strong and positive no matter what obstacles were thrown into her path. Joan is an inspiration for her family and friends, and has never let her health problems get in the way of living her life and maintaining her independence. However great news of a kidney transplant may be, Joan and her family need help to pay for the overwhelming medical expenses that come with being a transplant recipient.

I just realized that today is the 8 month anniversary of my kidney transplant. Woo Hoo!!! It’s been a little rocky, but things are going well. Just adjusting to a new lifestyle, I guess. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and donations to my campaign to help with medical expenses. Love to all of you for your caring.

Good news! I am officially dialysis-free!!! I got the dialysis catheter removed Monday so all that artificial stuff is gone. My kidney is working like it should and for that I’m very thankful.
I’m also thankful to all my friends, family and everyone else who has prayed for me, given me words of support and donated to help with my drug expenses. I love you all!
