Earla Butterfield needs your help. She has spent 9 of the past 12 twelve months in the hospital fighting for her life. In 2012, Earla was diagnosed with a severe case of COPD; a progressive and often fatal condition of the lungs that makes it very hard to breathe. Earla now relies on full-time oxygen, and without a lung transplant, she will soon run out of time.

Earla has been married to her husband Eric for many years. As she undergoes extensive medical testing, and waits for her double-lung transplant at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Eric is by Earla’s side 24/7. In spite of several massive heart attacks, he has slept in a hospital chair next to her bed every single night. Earla and Eric have been devoted to the happiness of their family and spend every minute they can with their children and grandchildren. Even with her failing health, Earla has spent countless hours volunteering her time to help others in the military, as a Girl Scouts Leader and more recently, the Masons. She even helped to prepare our special forces for urban combat at Fort Knox (Zussman Urban Combat Training Center). Now it is time to reach out and help Earla!
