Leslie “Les” Shockley is a 49 year old husband and father of two sons. Les’ diabetes attacked his kidneys and he is now in end-stage-renal failure. Les dialyzes every night to survive, but his best option for a long and healthy life is a kidney transplant.
Les’ brother Floyd hopes to be a match and donate one of his kidneys. Les would love to have his normal life again getting back to the things he loves: hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. To do this, Les needs our help.
Even with insurance, the cost of a kidney transplant and after care is very expensive. Co-pays alone for the anti-rejection medications alone are more than $1000 per month, and this doesn’t include the regular medications that Les takes every day. The transplant coordinator has given him an initial fundraising goal of at least $10,000.
Les has chosen to fundraise with HelpHOPELive in part because HelpHOPELive assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.
