Trina was born in Seattle, WA and graduated from Interlake High School in Bellevue WA. She has always loved the outdoors, learning to ski and ice skate as a young girl and more recently enjoying camping, water skiing and running. She has three grown children and two adorable grandkids. She moved to Phoenix AZ in the late 1990’s. Currently she is in Yakima, WA caring for her mother who is in late stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
Trina was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis 21 years ago. MS has now significantly affected her life. She is wheelchair bound as well as experiencing severe fatigue. Her neurologist recently told her that her MS has moved onto Secondary Progressive MS and that there are no medications that slow or stop the progress of the disease.
A new procedure called HSCT that will stop the progression of the disease in all forms of MS is now in clinical trials here in the USA. It is a two step process involving chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. Trina did not qualify for any of the three trials currently running in the USA. It is expected to be approved by the FDA in the coming years but that won’t be soon enough for Trina. The procedure has been approved abroad in many countries. Trina has been accepted to the Clinica Ruiz in Mexico and treatment is planned for September. Since it’s out of the country, it won’t be covered by insurance and will cost $53,000.
Trina’s friends and family are raising money to pay for the transplant and any uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Trina has chosen to fundraise with HelpHOPELive in part because HelpHOPELive assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.

Thank you for your support!
Thank you for all of your donations. I have decided to try another treatment that has been approved in the last year for MS in the US. It will be covered by insurance but this fund will be here for me for items I need to help me live with this disease.
