Phyllis was raised in Greenville, NC where she met her husband and had two children. When the children were small they moved to Newland, NC in the mountains. After the children graduated high school they decided to move closer to home so they made moved to Ahoskie, NC until she became ill. The first doctors she saw were in Greenville, so they moved there when her illness progressed. Now they are living with her parents so that Phyllis’s husband could stop working and serve as caregiver to his wife 24 hours a day. Phyllis was recently placed on the active transplant waiting list so the future is looking brighter than it has for some time.
Finances are a major concern in Phyllis’s situation. Even with insurance, she faces many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits and the costly anti-rejection medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life (approximately $3,000 a month).
To help with the financial burden of Phyllis’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a making a donation today by clicking the DONATE NOW button.
Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity. Please follow the campaign here for Phyllis as we will be planning some fundraising events soon and posting updates regularly.
Thank you in advance,
