Before her diagnosis, Ghizlane was an active outdoors person, pursuing her love of family and friends. But since the diagnosis, Ghizlane has become dependent on supplemental oxygen to breathe. She is tethered to a tube 24/7. Even walking with oxygen can leave she winded. Her quality of life is fading day-by-day.
Ghizlane’ s days are filled with a mixture of anxiety and hope as she waits to be double-listed at New York-Presbyterian and Brigham-Women’s Hospitals for the lung transplant. But before that can happen she needs to raise money for the uninsured transplant-related expenses that her insurance will not cover. While her friends and family will help to raise the necessary $60,000 needed, it will take all of us working together to make this happen.
If you can find it in your heart to help with $1 or $1000, please know that every single dollar helps and brings Ghizlane one step closer to her second chance at life. And if you don’t have $1 to spare, please share this link with your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media friends. Email it to your family and other email contacts. Every single donation – large or small – makes a difference.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Ghizlane’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the New York Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please make a donation today and click the DONATE NOW button. Your contribution is greatly appreciated

Why Fundraise?
Transplants are expensive
Average first-year billed charges for a transplant are more than $650,000.
While surgery may be covered by health insurance, pre-transplant medical services and post-transplant
Maintenance are often uncovered, leaving patients and families with huge out-of-pocket expenses.
Success in transplant includes having a realistic financial plan
Anyone facing a transplant should consider fundraising as a way to meet their uninsured
Medical and non-medical expenses including:
• Health insurance premiums, co-pays and deductibles
• Hospital bills
• Travel/temporary relocation for patient and caregiver – including moving expenses
• Anti-rejection and other medications (often a lifelong expense)
• Home health care
• Donor search fees and living donor costs
