Dear Family and Friends,
Janice Cherry Gaynor is a courageous, loving, and faithful woman of God and if you know her, you know that she is loved by everyone she comes in contact with. She was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease, a hereditary disease, over 30 years ago. Eventually her kidneys failed and she was placed on dialysis 17 years ago. During this time, she has had numerous surgeries and other health problems. Due to her various health issues, her body developed too many antibodies. Her doctors told her it would be impossible for her to get a kidney transplant and she would have to remain on dialysis for the rest of her life. However, through it all Janice never allowed her health problems to overshadow her faith and her desire to live and love others.
About two years ago a blessing came in the form of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. They have a specialized program that works with people who have been deemed unable to be transplanted due to an abundance of antibodies. They are willing to work with her, but they will not place Janice on the active transplant waiting list until she can obtain a secondary insurance to pay for the surgery. Currently, she is not active on the kidney transplant list and, therefore, not able to receive this life saving surgery.
Obtaining a secondary insurance is very expensive, especially because Janice has a chronic medical condition. Even though she has Medicare, she will still have many out of pocket expenses, like co-pays and deductibles, insurance premiums, travel to and from the transplant center, and the costly medication Janice must take for the rest of her life. With your help, we can help Janice afford the necessary expenses to receive a life-saving transplant.
To help offset these expenses, a fundraising campaign in Janice’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Mid-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please join me in helping to make a difference in Janice’s life by making a contribution.Thank you in advance for your support and prayers. We sincerely appreciate anything you can give. Please feel free to forward this information to anyone who might be interested.

Sincerely,
Brianna Gaynor

I worked with Janice at SBMC in the GI department. When she left our hospital I would see her from time to time as a patient in our department. Always had a warm smile for me (let’s not forget that laugh) and taught me so much as a GI nurse. We had many good conversations over our hurried lunches in GI, and I have always admired her fortitude. I knew I was beat after working and couldn’t imagine having to then go for dialysis. Janice, I think of you often, and I hope that you are able to get this done. You truly are an inspiration to me. Love ya buddy, Deb

To my beautiful cousin Janice: I know that God is able to do far more abundantly above what we can ask or even imagine. It is not His will that any of His children shall perish, but that we will prosper and be in good health even as our souls prosper. I love you so very much and await the day that our God will complete the healing process in your body. Much love! Your cousin, Bunny

Dear Janice,

My dear friend, Treva Smith-White, has told me wonderful things about you and your daughter. I admire your steadfast faith in God through your struggles and I know that he will bless you with what you need as you have blessed those with your presence. May my donation, aid your speedy and permanent recovery.
