On May 4, 2009, Brittany Correia was a passenger in a car accident and received a life changing injury. She was only 20 years old when it happened, still young with so much more yet to do in life. Prior to this she raced motocross and was Hawaii’s top female racer growing up, always competing with the boys. She feels that Motocross plays a big role in her never give up attitude now.

When the driver lost control while going over 100 mph, the car went up the mountain side, flipping multiple times before it hit a tree. Pinned and unable to move or feel, she was instantly paralyzed from a neck injury, while the driver was uninjured. We don’t know if she will ever walk again because with these injuries, recovery can’t be predicted. However, with no punctures, only bruising to her spinal cord from the fractures and dislocation which was fused in surgery, she has chosen to fight. Hopefully she will overcome every challenge that is put before her and will one day walk again.

However, until she recovers fully and gets her independence and mobility back, financing the uninsured injury-related costs presents a challenge our family cannot meet alone. She currently receives therapeutic services at Project Walk. She has made improvements and feels if she will walk again, Project Walk is the place that will help her do it! Unfortunately, insurance does not cover these therapies. Similarly, any additional uninsured medical expenses will only add to the astronomical costs facing Brittany and our family.

Trust in god young lady ... Things happen for a reason although this is a rough plan of The Lord , perhaps it's to show the world that no matter what happens , you can overcome this and will walk and live a wonderful life!
