Family and friends of Penny Crom are raising money to pay for uninsured medical expenses associated with her spinal cord injury. Penny lives in Grand Junction, CO with her husband Chris, daughter Hilary 18, and son Max 13. Penny suffered a level C5 complete spinal cord injury while riding her road bike near her home on December 2, 2007. She now has quadriplegia with only limited movement of her arms and no use of her fingers or legs. Penny will require full time care including a home healthcare provider and highly specialized rehabilitation programs.
Penny is an outstanding athlete, but more importantly, an exceptional person, mother, wife, and friend. Penny has always been an inspiration to those around her. She has spent her life living it to the fullest. Through diverse community involvement and her career as a Nurse Practitioner, she has been committed to helping others. She has a passion for the outdoors that includes bike riding, skiing (both down hill and x-country), hiking, camping, mountain climbing, and anything else that could challenge her.
Penny has chosen to fundraise with HelpHOPELive Catastrophic Injury Fund in part because HelpHOPELive provides both tax-deductibility and fiscal accountability to her contributors. Contributors can be sure that funds contributed will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses.
