Dear friends and family,

As many of you already know, for the past several years Quincy Crudup has been battling end-stage renal disease. For over three years, Quincy has been on dialysis three days a week, four hours each day. Quincy is only 33 years-old and his doctors have informed him that his only chance at a long and healthy life is to undergo a kidney transplant.

Currently, Quincy is completing his medical evaluations at Duke University Medical Center. Despite having Medicare, some of the expenses associated with a transplant will not be covered and will have to be paid for out-of-pocket. Some of these uninsured transplant-related expenses include: co-pays and deductibles, doctors visits, and the expensive immunosuppressant medications that Quincy will have to take for the rest of his life. The transplant team at Duke has instructed Quincy to fundraise for these uninsured expenses — he must start by raising $5,000 in order to be placed on the active transplant list.
