Freeman Davenport, the son of Druscilla Davenport, from Fayetteville, NC, is the father of three amazing young adults and a 10-month-old granddaughter. In 1990 he was diagnosed with diabetes and over the years this illness took a toll on his kidneys. Three years ago Freeman was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).His doctors have told him that his only chance at a healthy life is to have a kidney/pancreas transplant. Freeman is currently on the active transplant waiting list at both UNC and Johns Hopkins in Maryland.
Transplants are life-saving, but very expensive. Even with insurance, Freeman will have many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pay and deductibles, continued doctor visits, travel to and from the medical center and possible temporary relocation housing depending on which center performs the transplant. This is in addition to the expensive anti-rejection medications that Freeman will have to take for the rest of his life. These expenses will add up to more than the Davenport family can handle on their own – they need your help.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Freeman’s honor has been
established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a donation today and click the DONATE NOW button.
Your support is critical to the overall success of Freeman’s struggle. Please know that your contribution counts. On the behalf of my family, I thank you in advance for your kind consideration.
Gratefully,
The Davenport family
