Kenneth Baldwin will be 51 this June; he suffered his first heart attack at just 35 years old. During that time, he had exhausted all options and was in congestive heart failure causing him to need a lifesaving heart transplant. Kenneth received the gift-of-life through a heart transplant on March 29th, 2016. He is currently recovering from his surgery at St. Luke’s Hospital, and making strides each and every day. Kenneth is progressing in his recovery; however he will face many challenges and obstacles during the next few months, as he adjusts to his new heart, post-transplant medications and post-surgical procedures. Kenneth is resilient and remains optimistic for his future, but he is facing enormous out-of-pocket expenses from his transplant. The time has now come to reach out and help him alleviate the financial burdens he is facing. Out-of-pocket costs are starting to accrue to more than he can handle alone, and Kenneth desperately needs your financial support!
Kenneth has always been a hardworking husband, dad, and friend. He is dependable to his family and friends whenever they need him and is an active member on the North Hardin Water Board. He married his wife Jo Ann 30 years ago and together they raised a son, who became an angel at 19, and a daughter. His family has grown and his two granddaughters mean the world to him. Kenneth is very grateful for his donor heart and thankful for a second chance at life. Already he is breathing easier, and looking forward to enjoying the outdoors, and most importantly making more memories with his family and friends.
Financing this life saving procedure is an enormous task, as there will be many medical expenses not covered by the insurance: co-pays, post-transplant medications of up to $1,200 a month, lab fees, relocation expenses, and much more. Costs could top $20,000!
To help with the financial burden of Kenneth’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Central Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please, consider a contribution.

Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity. Updates and fundraising events will be upcoming on this HelpHOPELive campaign page so be sure to keep checking back regularly to stay informed. Through faith, love and God’s grace he will continue this fight.
Gratefully,
Brittany Clark, Kenneth’s daughter

Kenneth has been home now about a month and doing very well. Beginning to heal and starting to exercise regularly. We go back this week for another biopsy on the 15th. We are praying that all goes well and that he is still out of rejection. We have now reach the donut hole on his insurance for all his medications. Brittany is planning a Barb-q cook off soon so be looking for more information coming. Hoping to get together a rag-ball tournament also. Anyone with ideas let us know. Thanks again for all your prayers.
Kenneth is now home and doing well. He. Still has to go back for biopsies monthly now so long as he stays out of rejection. We are so very thankful to everyone for all your prayers and well wishes. We will be getting some fundraisers together soon.
Kenneth had a rough couple of days starting his new medication for his rejection but his body has finally adjusted to it. Unfortunately it has compromised his immune system and he is unable to leave his room now nor is he allowed to have visitors. It's been hard on him. He hasn't felt much like talking on the phone and has gotten very weak on this new Med. Please keep us in your prayers. Thanks
We didn't get the results we wanted today Kenneth Baldwin is still in rejection and they are going to continue with a stronger steroid they put a pic line in his arm for they IV drugs that he will require for the next 7 days. He is disappointed and a little down. But we have a great wonderful God whom we serve who is still fighting this battle for us! Keep
Us in your prayers and all the nurses and Drs.
Kenneth has had a set back he is back in the hospital for atleast a week while they give him high doses of steroids to fight against rejection. He is not feeling very well today. Please continue to keep us in your prayers?
Kenneth's recovery has been so great that after 9 days he has been released from the hospital to stay here in Houston! We give thanks to God first who brought us to such a a wonderful team of doctors. He still has a long recovery coming but with Gods Grace we shall make it through all this.
Kenneth's doctors are amazed at his recovery. He is doing wonderful and they are already talking about releasing him from the hospital after barely a week. We will have to stay here close to the Med Center for blood test and biopsies over the next few weeks. So we will be here about 2 months. God is so Good and we give him all the Glory!!
Kenneth has done so great they have moved him up to the next step down floor. He walked 1/2 a mile today. He is feeling better than he has in years!
Kenneth Baldwin is doing great. He had a good day sat up in recliner again today for more than 5 hours had 3 of 4 of his drain tubes removed and is down to just one IV in his neck pic line. They are decreasing it down and it will more than likely be gone by Monday. Praise God!! His recovery has been miraculous and speedy. They told him this morning he will not need a pacemaker so all is wonderful!!! His new heart is doing all it is suppose to do! God is so Good!! If all keeps going like it has he will move up to the telemetry floor earlier than they first thought maybe by Monday or Tuesday! We are in no rush just when it's the right time! Gods timing is always perfect!! We are so thankful and grateful for all the prayers from everyone. Continue praying for our donors family please! Love to all

Kenneth Baldwin surgeon just came out and said everything went great and we will get to see him in about an hour. Praise God He is Lord of All!
Kenneth went into surgery around 11:30pm and at 5:30am the head surgeon came out to let us know he did excellent and his new heart is pumping great! He has just been moved to the recovery room and we will take one day at a time moving forward. Updates will continue to be made and fundraising events will also be coming up. Thank you all for your support, love, and prayers through this journey.
About 11:30 this morning we were told they had a possible heart for Kenneth. We have waited to post anything till we knew he would go to surgery. He is scheduled to go at 10:00pm. There is still a possibility that there could be something that could prevent it from happening but we have faith in God that his will be done! Please keep us in your prayers this evening. Surgery will last around 6-8 hours.
Kenneth has now been here at St. Luke's 3 weeks today. His Nurses are the greatest in the world. He is getting to go for short walks with his ICU nurse each day to keep up his strength for surgery. We were given an address for anyone wanting to send a note. It's Baylor St. LUKES Medical Center, Kenneth Baldwin, 6720 Bertner Ave, 6 South 1, Houston, TX 77030.
We would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support. You are loved and appreciated.
