JB has battled Cystic Fibrosis, a chronic illness that affects the respiratory and other systems, all his life. In 2014, he developed sensitivities to some of his medications and his health took a turn for the worse. Medications and treatments are becoming less effective and his lung function continue to fall, with a double lung transplant being his best hope for survival.
“Growing up with a CF was a challenge, but I didn’t realize I was different until I was older. Thanks to supportive family and friends, I never really felt different. I was never going to be the biggest or the fastest on the playground, but I always gave it my all and did my best, something I’ve tried to do my whole life. It’s ok to have limitations and acknowledge them, but not to let them define who you are. I’ve tried to live my life in a positive way, giving what I can to the people around me, who have given me so much.”
Family and friends of JB Brown are raising money to pay for uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
JB has chosen to fundraise with HelpHOPELive in part because HelpHOPELive assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.

Thank you for your support!
It has been a very busy month and a half, in a good way. On November 30, 2015, JB received his new lungs. He was released 7 days after the surgery and continues to make good progress on his recovery. There have been a few small events that required hospitalization, but were short and not emergencies. JB continues to get stronger, to follow his full story at www.facebook.com . JB posts regularly with the results of clinic, tests and generally how he is doing. Check it out.
We are truly grateful to the family who saw beyond their grief to donate the lifesaving lungs for JB. We send them our deepest sympathy for their loss.
Thanks to all of you and your generous donations, the costs of housing after surgery, medical supplies, prescriptions and co-pays have been covered by the fund. We will continue to fund raise, as these cost will continue through the life of JB. Thanks to all of you for making it easier on the family.
THANK YOU!
