Carmen Acosta Perez is a wonderful daughter, sister, auntie, wife, mother, person to be around. She makes it easy to fall in love with her because of her kind nature, trustworthiness, humility, hospitable demeanor, and caring heart. Most of all, Carmen loves serving God alongside her husband Rev. Omar Perez and her children for the last 38 years in the ministry. She is always there when you need her putting family and others before her own needs. Her testimony as a born-again Christian is a blessing to all who hear it.
Carmen has been battling pulmonary fibrosis (scarring of the lungs which makes breathing difficult) for many years. Her doctors at Methodist Hospital have told us, her only chance to return to good health is a lung transplant. Transplantation is life-saving but financially draining. Even with insurance, Carmen is facing very high expenses including anti-rejection medications she will need to take for the rest of her life, travel to and from the center, co-pays, lab fees and more.
To help with the financial burden of Carmen’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Central Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider a contribution.

Your support is critical to the overall success of Carmen’s struggle. Please help us accomplish our goal and be part of this miracle, the give of life! Share our request with your family and friends. God bless each and every one of you today and always.
With sincere gratitude,
Jazmine Consuelo (daughter)

Hello everyone, just an updated on my mom. She has been doing fairly good.
Hello everyone, just an update on my mom. She's been having quite a few test that are necessary prior to lung transplant. We just found out that her esofogus is not working properly, and that she will either need a treatment or surgery depending what her gastrointerologist says in our next visit with him. She suffers alot of acid reflex and have problems digesting her food. She also had to have upper and lower GI's, where they found 3 polups and were removed, . Praising God they were benign. So much is just happening, it's very stressful for her as well as us. But mom holds her faith and her trust in our Lord God. So we'll keep you informed as events happen. For now just please keep her and our family in your prayers. Thanks
Good morning family friends and new acquaintances. Today is is joyful day for me, it's the day I'm able to gather with all my church family and praise God together. I'm confined most of the time to being home, and my only two outing that take place weekly are Church and doctors appt. I wait for Sunday's with great joy and expectations.
I just want to say thank you to all of ya'll out there who kindly and faithfully support my funding .
My preparations for the lung transplant are going smoothly. I'm still doing some necessary testing. This week I had my GI's and my colonoscopy performed. Found some polups and 3 were removed. Waiting now for results, I'm in peace with my Lord no matter what the results may be. Feeling strong in my faith and that's all that counts to me besides my families and friends support.
I'm also excited because once again in Feb. I will be celebrating one more year of cancer free, 2011-2016
Many, many reasons to be thankful, but the most important one is that God is FAITHFUL even when we're not. All Glory to Him, the Father!!!!!
Good morning everyone, just wanted to let everyone know that I've been feeling better these last few days. The month of December brought lots of good blessings and some unpleasant ones, but all welcomed!
"¡Should we not recieve good things, and not bad things? All is good for us in the loving sight of God!!!
On new medications and continual therapy until transplant. Sharing some memories and lots of blessings. Going through some tests this coming week and resting on God.
Once again thank you for all your support and prayers!!
Merry Christmas 2015,
to all my family and friends, old and new. I've been feeling much better in the last few days. Been in and out of hospital doing some of the pre-surgery testing. My heart rejoice to know that my Tomorrow is in God's hand.
Gathering with family in a quiet Christmas Dinner, reminiscing on blessing and celebrating Christ the Lord! Thank you for all your support, may God double your blessing in life and health!
Today was a special day, we remember the reason why we celebrate Christmas. Two thousand years ago, a baby was born to give his life for us 33yrs after.
He Lived like we do, laughed, ate, slept, cry, hurt, like we do, BUT one thing we do not share and that is he never sinned as we do. Our sins are the reason why he took your place and mines in the cross. So that through him and only him we could have eternal life.
My prayer is that everyone honors him on his Birthday! That you who reads this post may come to know Him as Savior of your soul! John 3:16
Thank You Father God for Your Son Jesus Christ our Savior!
Hello everyone. Let me start by saying Happy Thanksgiving Day to all. Hoping you enjoy a good time of family fellowship and good food and many blessings!
Just a short note letting everyone know that I'm back home from the hospital. As expected a small infection, not too serious but important and delicate enough to my health for the doctors to worry and admit me.. Praising God for His care and touch. Still on antibiotics for another week, some bed rest and then back to lung therapy. So thank you for all of your support and prayers. Will keep updates coming on a regular basis. God bless you all!
Good morning everyone, just a short report on how I've been in the last few weeks. Trying to fight a head cold which is dangerous for me. Working on my therapy daily 6min., need to reach 600ft., walk before surgery. I'm weak and hurting, but I must reach my goal. Going through exams and just trying to keep myself busy and in better shape. Thank you for all your prayers and support.
Just an update on my health. A few days with lots of fatique, tiredness and bone pain. But still in good spirit. Praying faithfully and waiting for the up comming event of my lung transplant. Resting in God's favor for me. Keep me in your prayers. Thank you.
Just wanted to let everyone know that today I feel so much better. Yesterday while at UT PHYSICIAN Cancer Center getting my port flush and labs, I came home very sick. Dizziness, diarrhea, headache, just couldn't keep myself up. Don't know what exactly caused this. Not the usual feeling after a flush. But praising God anyways and saying thank you to all of you who lifted me up in prayer, today I am able to get up from bed. Gracias a todos por sus oraciones!
I personally want to say thank you in advance to all of you out there, who God will put in your hearts the desire to help and support me and my family in this great journey we are embarking. Thank you, thank you, thank you all from the bottom of my heart!!!!!
"I will sing of Your strength, in the morning I will sing of Your love; for You are my fortress, my refuge in time of trouble. " Psalm 59:16
Our mother has been doing fair in these past months and weeks. But we are holding on to our faith in God, and know He has great blessings in store for her and us. We just want to let you all know that your help and support, all your messages and words of encouragement gives us and mom more strength and in God's promise a greater Hope for the future. Once again THAN YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORTS AND PRAYERS. God bless you all!
He'll, my name is Jazmine Perez Escalante. Let me tell you a little about my mom . My mom has been ill for as long as I can remember (30) or more. When she was pregnant from me at 26, she was adviced not to have me cause doctors could not treat her for her illness. She was diagnose with Lupus. She had faith, that we both would be safe in God's hands. And I am here 29 yrs later to testify how great God is. It was very hard for mommy to keep up to all her daily duties. Work, wife, mother ect. Even though she was sick, she always had time to play with my brother and me. On days she felt better she would ask my father if we could go do fun stuff, movies, beach, park ect. She loved going on trips and looked forward to adventure. Although she worked very long hours she loved teaching Bible classes at Church, for kids and young adults. She enjoy having my aunts uncle and cousins always around the house. Since we were small mom always show us and tought us together with our dad, who is a pastor, to always love, God, to seek Him first and to always be thankful no matter what lifes adversities would take us thru. She'd always say, I'm in God's hands, my strength, my healing is in Christ alone."trust in God". We learn from her to trust, faithfully in God, He is our maker, our healer and deliverer. 2008-9 she was diagnosed with lung fibrosis. 2010 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, 2011-12 her heart grew weaker and now her lungs are failing her. She's still fighting lupus. But i could say with much thankfulnes that God healed her heart and cancer. We've seen mommy go thru alot of physically and emotionally, pain and anguish but never has she lost her faith! Now, needing new lungs mommy, needs you to support her in this new journey for lung transplant. Her insurance is not enough to pay her surgery, medications and that's the reason why I ask you to please donate to help our family go through these hard times. I am asking you to please donate and keep her and us all in prayer. Thank you and God bless you all.....
