On May 30th, our son, Andrew (23) suffered a life-changing spinal cord injury following a devastating ATV accident while we were celebrating his brothers 18th birthday. He is now paralyzed from his chest down with a small amount of use of his hands. While Andrew maintains a positive attitude working very hard in all of his rehabilitation therapy everyday is an uphill battle that he must face.
Andrew is a wonderful son, brother, and good friend to many. He has always loved the outdoors, working as a landscaper and he is also expecting his first child in December.
Once discharged from the rehab center he is planning on entering an intensive outpatient day therapy program that will strengthen his upper body and help him gain as much independence as possible. Through all of this Andrew is optimistic and hopeful that he will be able to return to a productive life in the community through the support of family and friends.
As you can imagine, the expenses associated with a spinal cord injury are very high and overwhelming to any family. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are home modifications, vehicle modifications, adaptive equipment, additional rehabilitative therapy, and many others. This puts Andrew and our family up against a challenge we cannot meet alone and desperately need your help.
A fundraising campaign in Andrew’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only. On behalf of Andrew and our family, thank you for your kindness, generosity and support.

So Andrew and Leah had pictures made today. So excited to see them.
Andrew is doing well...He took his drivers evaluation and passed!!! Next step looking for a car that can be modified, he loves his cars. Feels like he is 16 again and just got his permit.
