In 2005 after the birth of her last child, Johnnie became very ill. She was left undiagnosed for several years and suffered with many symptoms. In 2008, Johnnie was rushed to the hospital with shortness of breath and an enlarged heart. She was found to be in complete kidney failure, and was told she had end-stage-renal disease. The cause of her medical problems was a diagnoses of lupus; a serious and progressive illness that causes the body’s own immune system to attack healthy cells and tissues. The lupus caused serious damage to both Johnnie’s heart and kidneys, and she now needs a lifesaving kidney transplant. While she undergoes life sustaining dialysis treatments, Johnnie waits for a transplant at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She desperately needs your help, or her time will soon run out!
Johnnie is a hardworking, loving, single mother who always puts her children and others first. She is active in her local community and attends church when she can. Since 2012, she became a single mother and has been struggling not only with her health, but with making ends meet, as well. Johnnie worked very hard at her job until she was forced to leave due to her health and medical treatments. Her out-of-pocket medical expenses continue to add up and she is now living on her limited disability income. Co-pays and deductibles, travel and lodging costs, medical appointments, meal fees, health insurance premiums and living expenses are adding up to more than Johnnie can handle alone. She will also be required to take costly anti-rejection medications that she will need for the rest of her life, after transplant.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Johnnie’ss honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Central Kidney Transplant Fund and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your generosity, prayers and support in making Johnnie’s transplant a success. Any donation amount, no matter how big or how small is truly a gift to both Johnnie and her loving family.
Gratefully,
Johnnie’s loving friends and community
