He was first diagnosed with kidney failure three years ago. Then, in December 2014, it was discovered that his kidneys were in total failure. He now receives dialysis five (yes, five!) days a week and must raise money for transplantation and all that comes with it.
Khaven is an engineer by trade, working on the design and manufacture of audio speakers. He enjoys light gardening and tinkering on mechanical parts. In his more active, healthier days, he enjoyed working on automobiles and was, at one point, an ASE certified mechanic. He also enjoyed word-working and building. He is an active member of the Cambodian community in Jacksonville and is an advocate for the worldwide movement urging for democracy in Cambodia
To help with the financial burden of Khaven’s uncovered expenses for his kidney transplant, his family has teamed up with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donation are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
For more information or questions, please call 1.800.642.8399 or email [email protected] or you may contact Kornika, his daughter, at 954.551.0607.

WE DID IT!!! We exceeded our initial fundraising goal of $3800 which is what the transplant committee at the Mayo Clinic asked us to get so that my dad, Khaven Neak, could get on the transplant list. It was with all of your help that we did it. THANK YOU!
I am deeply humbled and so incredibly grateful. Those of you that know me well know that I tend more towards being stoic but once I realized that we were actually able to reach our goal, I /might/ have shed a tear or two.
I really can't believe it!
Anyway, even though we have reached this first milestone, donations will continue to be accepted here via HelpHOPELive, a non-profit organization that is dedicated solely to providing financial support to those living through the transplant process and those dealing with catastrophic injury or illness.
You may wonder why we will continue to accept donations now that our initial goal has been met. Well, it is because this was just the first leg of our journey. We expect that now we have successfully raised this money, my dad should be on the transplant list before the close of business next week.
Then, the real work begins; we will campaign to find a living donor. The efforts involved in doing so will cost money. Afterwards, God willing, once we have a donor, the cost really starts to skyrocket. But, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
If you, or anyone you know, are interested in sharing your spare and becoming a living kidney donor, visit http://www.mayoclinic.org/forms/living-donor.

Once again, I do not even have the words to express how grateful I am to y'all.
On behalf of Khaven and his family,
Kornika King (née Neak)

I have received several texts, emails, calls, and other social media contact asking if we were planning on starting a gofundme to help raise the $3800 we need to get my dad on the list for his life saving kidney transplant.
Well, this *IS* the equivalent of a gofundme except for transplantation. The difference is, the money does not come to us directly but, rather, is held by HelpHOPELive's Southeast Kidney Transplant Fund and is disbursed ONLY for my dad's transplant related expenses. That should offer you peace of mind to know that your money is going exactly where we are claiming it goes: to help cover the costs associated with a transplant that insurance does not cover. You can give by clicking "Donate Now" or you can mail a check to the address listed; just remember to indicate "In Honor of Khaven Neak" on the memo line. Checks should be made out to HelpHOPELive.
With that said, I wish to thank everyone who has already donated money and/or shared this link. I greatly appreciate it. I really don't want to have to comfort and console my daughter and explain death to her just yet.
IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT GIVING: The total funds raised indicator is not instantaneous and will not update immediately upon your donation. It usually takes 24-36 hours. As long as you received an emailed receipt (provided you input your email address), we have received your donation.
Also, because this is a non-profit organization, they are dedicated to protecting the donors. Your name is not publicly displayed at all and if you choose to be anonymous when you submit your contribution, you identity is not disclosed to us. The amount of your contribution is never disclosed publicly or to us.
With that said, if you want to publicly show your support, sign the guest book and share this campaign using the buttons provided.
Thank you so much!
Please feel free to contact me with any issues, questions, or concerns at [email protected] or call me at 954.551.0607.

Thank you so much!
Our father’s life was forever changed three years ago when he was diagnosed with kidney failure. Since then, his kidneys have progressively worsened and, as of December 2014, he is in total renal failure and is now receiving dialysis five (yes, five) days a week and needs a life-saving kidney transplant.
And that is why we are here asking for your help. Our father, Khaven, is not the type of man who is willing to ask for help – especially the monetary kind. He feels that after escaping the “Killing Fields” of the Khmer Rouge, a communist regime that effectively wiped out an estimated 25% of the Cambodian population, that he can get through anything on his own as long as he has his family by his side. However, as much as we would like to help him, none of us is in the position to cover all of his expenses.
While this transplant is lifesaving, it will be financially draining. Even with insurance, the cost of transplantation is expensive. It is estimated that, after insurance is applied, it will cost about $3800 a month for travel, copays, lab fees, anti-rejection medications, and other medical care.
So, we’re asking for your support to help with the burden of our father’s uncovered expenses with this fundraising campaign via HelpHOPELive. Any little bit helps. Please consider a contribution. And, even if you’re not in the position to contribute financially, it would help us greatly if you could spread the word.
