Mike Henninger was born and raised in Hellertown, Pennsylvania. Back in 2006, at age 29, while waiting for his daughter Bella Rose to be born, Mike was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. Familial cardiomyopathy is a genetic condition where the heart continues to weaken over time. If Mike is going to see his daughter grow up, he’s going to need a heart transplant.
Mike is an amazing man which is reflected in the love and support he is receiving from his family and friends. For nine years Mike and his family have been doing all that is possible to help his heart so that he can be the best daddy to Bella and husband to Marnie. While working full-time and providing for his family, Mike has had nine heart procedures and has had two pacemaker/defibrillators put in to be able to keep his heart beating. Even with all these measures taken, Mike has been shocked 11 times, and suffered a stroke. Unfortunately, in spite of everything he has gone through, his heart continues to deteriorate rapidly. Mike is no longer capable of working and has been denied disability due to his young age. A heart transplant is the only solution to give Mike his life back. We are confident that the gift of a heart will come to Mike one day. When he feels better, his goal is to go on a bike ride with Bella, and visit family who live four hours away.
We are very thankful for having medical insurance, but it does not cover all that is needed to help bring back Mike’s health. A lifetime of travel expenses back and forth to the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, loss of time at work for Marnie and all the medications Mike will need to be on for the rest of his life are just three things that the family need help with. Even after the transplant, Mike will need to take 20-30 pills a day and continue to require special tests and biopsies, multiple times a year. This is for the rest of Mike’s life! They are no longer too proud to ask for help because they will do anything and everything possible to give Bella her daddy back. A child should not have to go through the heartache of seeing her daddy be shocked by his defibrillator 11 times.

Hello Friends, Family and Supporters 🙂
It has been 4 months since Mike’s heart transplant and believe me when I say this; We could not get thru this without all of you!
Thank you for your continued support. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a beautiful Christmas shared with family. Bella enjoyed every moment possible with her Daddy! It really is a miracle that we have Mike with us today. Thank you again to everyone for helping Bella keep her Daddy and helping me keep my husband. We love you all
We have the BEST news!!! On September 3rd, Mike received the gift of life – a new heart. We are beyond relieved and Mike is doing great! We will be forever grateful to the family of our heart donor who made the choice to let their loved one’s organs live on and give life to others. Please understand that now that the transplant has taken place, the bills are starting to overwhelm us. Mike will be on very expensive anti-rejection medications for the rest of his life. All donations, large or small, will help! Thank you.

Mike I remember you well always at the bench in Hellertown! My father always said you have to appeal disability three times before they will approve you in hopes you give up, keep appealing it! My son Mike Luttinen and I are praying for you.

Please reach out to me. Please. I know Heather and Melissa. I am very ill myself, and can help you through the disability denial and I would like to create a fundraiser for you. I have written this letter to Dr.Ben Carson this evening. Dr. Ben Carson, Every person in the world has the ability to be a "great" individual, with mounted success stories, but not every "great" individual has the opportunity to be a person. It is clearly evident after that after reading your posts, listening to your stories and hearing you speak that you have succeeded at both of these roles as a human being. I can list so many people that it would be a privilege for me to meet or receive a letter from, but not one of them could I day it would be an honor. Our society is very good at settling for the second best, but I am a very determined woman with my own agenda because I wear my heart on my sleeve. If you have read any of my precious posts, which please I understand if you have not, I have Trigeminal Neuralgia and I think that is all I need to say for you as a Dr. To understand. I listen to others in support groups, I have layed in a hospital bed watching an elderly Jewish man lose his life, I have read horrific stories about friends that are struggling just to keep food on the table, I watched my infant daughter die....I myself have worked in healthcare for over twenty years, and will never be able to justify why life can be so cruel to those that bless others. This is a question that I have written stories, poems and questions about and ultimately have come to the realization that only leaders with a compassionate heart and soul, but strong and vigor in their passions, can help mankind understand how to create peace amount ourselves and others who are from different backgrounds, race, age, religion, countries and whatever else can be thought of that makes people " different". You see Dr. Carson your mother have you the ability to understand that different can be string, but when tested staying strong is the only way to create a clear path to travel safely on. Even when others disagree about your choices, you continue because you "know" that is right. As a strong person you don't "think" it, you "know" it. Your mother knew reading was the doorway to adventures seeked, endless roads and bountiful explorations of the world unknown. She knew she was creating a son who would light up the works with his knowledge and strength, make mistakes but as you answered an earlier question tonight, she created a boy that turned into a man who was not afraid to lean on the more knowledgable for advice. I am writing this tonight because many other letters I have written were in support of you, your family and your mother, but tonight I am asking that you might consider reaching out to me as I am deeply motivated and feel empowered to make a change in our social security system for the ill. I can list all of the things that I had to do to get one person at social security to at least acknowledge me, but none the less, I often feel trudging on dirty water only makes a person sink a little more each time. I would like if you could read this post by someone I have no connection with, but have offered my help. I know you will be mortified to know that these things happen everyday to the sick and struggling families with ill family members in urgent need. What can we do to change this problem, and create a system at social security help those in need and begin to use their morals and values in the work they perform for citizens everyday. For sure they or you would never tolerate being turned down in this situation if it was a family member or friend in urgent need. Please help me give immediate assistance to this family. As you can read it is an urgent request. I have been down this long haul, and it will get harder before it gets any relief. Please please help me Dr. Carson. It is my duty as an American Citizen to bring this need to you. This is the link for your review. I look forward to hearing from you soon, if you could take just a few hours to meet with me and include me in this part if your campaign, I am honored as a person to be able to write my heart out to a "great" individual and clearly should be the next President of The United States of America. With warm wishes and thoughts, Mrs. Melissa King www.facebook.com
