Kaye-Beth Ambrose is a 55 year-old woman with Asthma and COPD. She was diagnosed just a few short years ago with COPD and her condition continues to deteriorate rapidly. Her doctors told her she will need a Double Lung Transplant to improve her quality of life. As you could imagine, that was a very scary day. She is still trying to process the magnitude of the upcoming weeks and months. My Mom is a very family-oriented, thoughtful and goodhearted person. She doesn’t like to ask for help but without your help she will not be able to have the surgery. The reality of needing a transplant is overwhelming and the concern about the financial burden it will create is very stressful, further complicating her medical condition.
Kaye-Beth is a native of Winchester, VA. She met the love of her life, Danny, after high school and they later married. Their 34 years of marriage have blessed them with 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Once a very outgoing and active person, she now relies on oxygen and medications to help her manage even the simplest of tasks. She is praying that with God’s hand, a transplant will bring about a renewed vitality. She looks forward to returning to her previous activity level and hopes to do everything with her grandchildren that she was able to do with her children. Our family is committed to helping her as she makes this journey through the transplant process and we pray the road to recovery will not be too bumpy. She is so ready for an improved quality of life.
Transplants save lives but they are also financially demanding. Kaye-Beth has great medical insurance, but the reality is, with the high cost of medical care, the out-of-pocket expenses will be insurmountable without the help of those who care. In addition to the expense of a transplant and hospital stay, Mom and a caregiver will need to relocate to Charlottesville, VA post-transplant for about three months. Couple that expense with new medications, co-pays, lab fees, etc, etc and we are overwhelmed with the impending costs.
We have chosen to fundraise with HelpHOPELive in part because HelpHOPELive assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.
