Jennifer (Jenny) Lynn Cooper is a brave 34-year-old that has been blessed with a kidney pancreas transplant on November 5th, 2017.
Her battle began at the tender age of 5 when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. By July of 2014, Jenny’s kidney function had declined to such a point that a kidney/pancreas transplant was necessary for her survival. Over three years of extensive tests and waiting on the transplant list, while remaining off of dialysis, she was blessed with 2 wonderful organs- thanks to her special donor!
Qualifying for the transplant eligibility was just the first steps of an emotional and lengthy process. In addition to the much needed emotional support and prayers, Jenny needs financial help to cover the extensive uninsured expenses involved such as travel costs to and from the center, relocation closer to the hospital, anti-rejection medications she will need to take for the rest of her life, co-pays, and more. Jenny has a beautiful and positive attitude about all of this. She has always been more concerned about others than herself. Her beautiful smile and infectious laugh make everyone happy just to be near her. You can help Jenny’s dream of good health come true with your support. Any amount you are able to contribute is a much appreciated blessing.
To help with the financial burden of Jenny’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 36 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southeast Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Please, consider a contribution.

{Hi, my name is Trish and I am Jennifer’s mother. I would like to take a moment to tell you about my beautiful and kind-hearted daughter who needs our help and support. Jenny has always been there to help others around her, whether you are related to her or a total stranger she will give of herself, her time, shoulder to cry on or just a sympathetic ear. Growing up she was the oldest of four children and helped me with her brothers and sister, and still to this day if they can’t reach mom for advice they turn to Jenny. Amazingly as a child she never complained about having to check her blood or having to take shots, not even about a restricted diet. I have always felt blessed to have her for my daughter and look forward to her having a bright future and being able to do the things that she deserves. She has two step-children whom she adores and they adore her as well. As her kidney function declines she is not able to be as active with them and this breaks her heart. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your help- Trish }
As Jennifer’s mother I must say that I am so grateful that she was blessed with such a wonderful match of a kidney and pancreas!!!!
She is doing so well and working plus going to college ( on the Deans list!) yet a setback happens again as she looses help for paying for expensive treatment, Dr visits and medication necessary for her to take care of her new organs.
She doesn’t like to ask for help so when she finally admitted to me that it was too much I knew it really was. I hope that anyone who can help financially will but even better are prayers for her to remain strong and healthy! ....she’s a warrior! I know she has this!! I’m blessed to have her as my daughter! God bless all and thank you, Trish
Tomorrow (November 5th, 2019) will make 2 years post kidney/pancreas transplant. I have made it through several viral infections, but overall staying healthy and being truly blessed.
I have received a letter today (11/4/19) stating I have officially lost my extra medical coverage which helped cover co-pays and premiums. This is the worst time this could have happen due to all the annual testing, labs and appointments for my annual check-up (including a kidney biopsy). By November 2020,
Not only do I have transplant followup appointments to keep, I also have medications to pay for both for transplant and glaucoma, eyesurgery that needs to take place in December (not covered) and monthly labs. November 2020 I will completely lose all medicare medical coverage which will leave me paying for everything. I am doing my best to finish school and find a great job after I receive my certification.
With this being said I just want to inform everyone in my support group whether prayers or donations-that I will continue to stay strong and push forward! Thank you & God bless! #IGOTTHIS #TRANSPLANTLIFE
It has been a little over a year and a half since my double organ transplant. The battle does not stop once the transplant is complete. It is a whole new battlefield! I battled fighting CMV for over a year. I have what I like to call a "baby immune system" now and don't need the highly expensive antiviral meds. I have conquered 3 infections including a kidney infection that was scary. I have one year to try to finish school and get myself in a well paying job with benefits before I lose my disability insurance. I pray that God leads me in the right direction so that I can continue to help others going through kidney failure and the transplant process. Thank you for the support in my battle and stay strong kidney warriors! You got this!
It's been a year since my kidney / pancreas transplant and I am truly blessed! It has been one bumpy road so It's a good thing I grew up on dirt roads!
I am now released from weekly clinic. Everything is going great thanks to my wonderful gifts! I have to continue weekly labs for 4 months and see Dr once a month. Still have tests they're continuing to make sure everything stays good. And will do a kidney biopsy in 3-4 months to make sure there is no rejection(shows better results) I will have a nuclear scan done end of January to make sure I don't have another tumor like the one removed with my appendix during transplant.
Thankful....Grateful....Blessed!
I was/am blessed with a kidney pancreas transplant on 11/5/17! Now I can't wait to help someone else out and show what I have learned in my journey. Thank you everyone for your continued support and prayers!
7/17/17
Well I had my 2nd call for transplant but it didnt go through. I am doing great, keeping my number as good as possible. My GFR is back up to 16 after spending a week in the hospital when my function dropped to 8 and I almost had to start dialysis. I truly believe God had other plans... And here I am!
I have my annual eval with transplant team in Gainesville on the 25th. Then August 1st-10 I have evaluations trying to get switched to Mayo in Jax because it way closer!
Thank you everyone for your support, thoughts and prayers!
Hi everyone, I will be active for 1 year and 9 months on 4/15/2017! I am holding strong but ready for the next chapter!
Its expensive and a 24 hour job going through this. I see 12 doctors, not including my transplant team. And 4 of these Dr's have to run tests or do operations every month or so to keep me as good as possible.
I was hospitilaized at the end of January 2017 for one week! I went in for my monthly blood work and usually 2 days later I pick up a copy for my own records. So my GFR (kidney filtration rate) which has been at 20 for almost 2 years dropped to 10! I called my dr and he sent me to the hospital to be admitted for Acute Kidney Failure due to Hypercalcemia. The high toxicity of calcium had caused tubular kidney damage. Which is reversible to a point. I was flushed with IV and I felt like every test was ran on me. I even had tremors! But the calcium levels werent coming down. We came to the conclusion that I was going have to start emergency hemo dialysis. The specialist came in my room to put cath in carotid artery in my neck (that hurts!) but said my artery was too collapsed and they would put more IV fluids and try again the next day! Well God had other plans! The next morning my blood results showed improvement and that the meds were starting to work! I ended up having to change all of my medications and was put on a highly expensive medication but it has got the calcium under control. Now 2 months later and my kidney function is at 13% and I feel "better than what the Doctors say I should"!
Thank you ALL for you support! It means the world to me!
Hi everyone. I'm still active for transplant and at the top of list-could be called at any time!
On Monday October 10th at 8:11PM I got a call with a possible match for transplant. I got to UF Shands at 5 AM to do Pre-Op tests and blood work. Everything was great and I didn't have any antibodies in blood (a very good thing) It was rescheduled twice and then at 3:30PM the transplant team came in and informed me that the pancreas was bad and they couldn't transplant it.
I'm still doing great and will continue to do my best to keep away from dialysis. I am at the top of the list and can be called again at anytime. God is in control! The funds that everyone has donated has helped so much and I am forever grateful! Prayers are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
God bless!
As of April 15th 2016 I am currently 9 months Active for transplant! "The call" could come at anytime!!!
I have managed to stay away from dialysis. (And hoping that it won't come to that.) My kidneys are currently functioning at 20% but staying steady!
Lots of Doctors appointments, tests and labs and a strict diet but Doctors are still happy with all results (considering).
Thank you for your continued support & prayers! God bless!
