Vertiss Powers desperately needs your help. He has been suffering from a severe case of diabetes for many years. Vertiss has done everything possible to keep his medical condition under control, however in more recent years his kidneys have taken a toll from his diabetes, and he is now suffering from end-stage-renal-disease. Vertiss undergoes extensive medical testing so he can be placed on the active transplant listed at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. In order to survive, Vertiss needs a lifesaving kidney transplant, and he needs your help to make his surgery a success.

Vertiss grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey and is known for his impeccable work ethic and tenacity to visit everyone he knows. He worked as a truck driver for many years, which allowed him to travel often and gave him many opportunities to visit his family, grandkids and friends that live across the entire east coast. A father to six loving and supportive children, and grandfather to twelve, Vertiss wants to get better and undergo a transplant, to be able to spend more time with his family.

Transplants are lifesaving, but the costs associated with this type of surgery are truly overwhelming. Vertiss can no longer continue to work as a driver, and it has become more difficult for him to visit with family. He undergoes lengthy dialysis treatments three times per week, which keep him confined to an area close to the Mayo Clinic. Vertiss has been on dialysis for over nine years, and is looking forward to a kidney transplant in the very near future. His time is running out and his lifelong goal is to “get back on the road” and continue to be an active part of his family’s life.
