Please Help Me Keep Walking!

Please allow me just a moment of your time. My name is Gina Massingill and I was diagnosed with MS 24 years ago. I have had slow but steady progression of disability primarily in my legs and walking ability. The disease modifying drugs have not worked for me. However, there is a treatment that is being done with positive results that stops the progression of this disease. It is called HSCT (hematopoietic stem cell transplant). It basically reboots my faulty immune system. Unfortunately, the US is still in trials so it is not available for me here but I do not have the luxury of time for an FDA approval because this disease is taking away my ability to walk little by little every day. While this treatment is the first bit of hope I’ve had in a very long time, it is expensive and insurance does not cover the cost.

Thanks to all of you I am in Makati Medical right now in The Philippines with the hope to stop this MS from progressing and work on regaining lost function. The chemo is happening and so far so good. Not much in the way of side effects:)

Just an update to say thanks again for all of the help to get my life-changing transplant.

My friend Bettye and I leave on January 1st for The Philippines. Bettye will stay the first month, then Randy will be there the last 2+ weeks to get me home!!

I would not be going without this help from my family and friends far and wide.Grateful is just not a big enough word. We got part of the way to the fundraising goal. We will be having a crawfish boil in the spring. There is still time for a 2015 write off also.

Bless you all!!
